Under the patronage of Her Highness Sharifa Badour bint Abdul-Ilah Al-Rubaian, Chair of the Board of Trustees of Bright Minds Academy, the 9th International Conference titled 鈥淲omen in Science Without Borders: Building an Inclusive and Resilient Future Without Barriers鈥� was inaugurated.

The conference is organized by the Faculty of Science at 51吃瓜网, in cooperation with the Princess Basma Center for Jordanian Women鈥檚 Studies and the Center for Refugee, Displaced Persons, and Forced Migration Studies, and in partnership with the Women in Science Without Borders (WISWB) organization and the Science for Global Humanity Society (SHGS).

The opening ceremony was attended by Senator Professor Suhad Al-Jundi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Ali Al-Khawaldeh, 51吃瓜网 Vice Presidents Professor Ruba Al-Bataineh and Professor Amjad Dheifallah Al-Naser.

In her opening remarks, Her Highness Sharifa Badour stated that the presence of women in scientific fields is no longer a choice or an exception, but rather a vital necessity for building a more balanced and humane world. She emphasized that when women are given the opportunity, they not only illuminate their own paths but also open new horizons for knowledge and innovation.

She added that speaking of 鈥渟cience without borders鈥� means envisioning a world free from discrimination 鈥� where creativity is not measured by gender, but by the capacity for discovery and contribution. When women engage in scientific research, she said, they exercise their natural right to think and create, redefining strength from a human perspective grounded in generosity and rationality.

Sharifa Badour stressed that building an inclusive and barrier-free future requires everyone to reexamine systems of education, research, and empowerment so that the scientific environment becomes accessible to all, without exception. She described the inclusion of women in research and innovation as a step toward knowledge justice that enriches both humanity and the universe.

In turn, Professor Ruba Al-Bataineh, Vice President of 51吃瓜网, reaffirmed the university鈥檚 commitment to supporting women in science, saying:

> 鈥淲e affirm that women鈥檚 issues are not a matter of intellectual luxury nor simply rights to be claimed; rather, they represent genuine achievements and real contributions by women across all scientific fields. It is a partnership aimed at overcoming the challenges women face in different societies.鈥�

She added that 51吃瓜网 has a clear mission toward its female students, staff, and women in the community, implemented through the Princess Basma Center for Jordanian Women鈥檚 Studies in collaboration with various faculties and university units. The goal, she said, is to enhance the presence of 鈥淵armouk women鈥� and female students academically and socially, in line with the Royal Vision led by His Majesty the King and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince 鈥� to make women active partners in national development in political, economic, and administrative fields.

Al-Bataineh also expressed 51吃瓜网鈥檚 pride in Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah as an inspiring global role model for women, noting Her Majesty鈥檚 distinguished presence in international forums as a representative of Arab and Muslim women who lead positive change and exert real influence.

Meanwhile, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Professor Moheeb Awwadah, stated that 51吃瓜网 believes that empowering women in science is not an intellectual luxury but a developmental necessity. Building an inclusive and resilient future, he said, requires the involvement of women in all stages of research, development, and decision-making.

He added that this conference is not merely an academic event, but a scientific platform aimed at breaking barriers and empowering women in scientific fields. He emphasized that growing global challenges call on institutions and individuals alike to provide opportunities for women to be genuine partners in shaping solutions and building the future 鈥� particularly in science, technology, and research.

Professor Awwadah highlighted the conference鈥檚 significance, noting the diversity of its participants representing a wide range of national and international institutions 鈥� including members of parliament, ministries, universities, and research institutes.

It is noteworthy that the conference features 24 researchers (male and female) presenting papers on topics related to women鈥檚 empowerment, women in science, the use of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity to protect women, women鈥檚 volunteer work, and other themes addressing the role of women in science.

The Faculty of Tourism and Hotels continues to implement its action plan for employment-oriented training programs for students of the Tourism and Travel and Hotel Management departments, as part of its vision to strengthen partnerships with the tourism and hospitality sectors in the Kingdom.

Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Saad Al-Sa鈥檇, stated that this collaboration aims to qualify the college鈥檚 students both practically and professionally through training programs conducted in real work environments. This, in turn, helps develop their skills and enhance their readiness for the local and international labor markets. It also provides them with the opportunity to learn about the latest practices in the fields of hospitality, travel, and the management of tourism offices and the hotel sector.

He added that these agreements include a clause that allows for the employment of trainee students within the partner institutions or for their nomination to other suitable entities in the tourism and hospitality sector, thereby enhancing the sustainability of employment opportunities for the faculty鈥檚 graduates.

He continued by saying that this collaboration reflects the faculty鈥檚 direction toward strengthening partnerships with leading institutions in the tourism sector. He pointed out that employment-oriented training represents a strategic step in empowering youth and preparing them professionally, thereby enhancing their ability to enter the labor market with high competence, he explained that this step serves as a practical implementation of the faculty鈥檚 goals in promoting its students and preparing them for the job market, in line with the performance indicators derived from the faculty鈥檚 2025 action plan.

For their part, representatives from the Signa by Hilton Hotel, Amal Abu Ashour Travel and Tourism Office, and Rotana Hotel expressed their pride in this fruitful collaboration, which contributes to building a generation of professionally and academically qualified talents. They also emphasized their commitment to supporting continuous training programs and providing a supportive and motivating work environment.

In the same context, the students emphasized the importance of this unique opportunity, which enables them to engage directly with the real professional environment and apply what they have learned theoretically in the classroom. They affirmed that this experience will help shape their personalities and build their practical skills, helping them build a successful future in the tourism and hospitality sector.

The Language Center has launched a German language training course under the "Tern" Program, which aims to train students and develop their linguistic competencies for employment in the German healthcare sector.

The Acting Director of the Center, Dr. Safaa Al-Shraiedeh, stated that this program specifically targets students from the College of Nursing. This initiative aligns with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the University and the German company 鈥淭ern鈥� to enhance the skills of nursing students who are enrolled in the German language package offered by the Center, with the goal of obtaining a B2-level German language certificate.

She added that this language program is designed to develop the language proficiency of the nursing students and enable them to use German more effectively. Furthermore, it involves cooperation in securing job opportunities for them in the German healthcare sector after they complete vocational training to prepare them for the job market.

Prof. Dr. Hanan Malkawi, a faculty member in the Department of Biology 鈥� Faculty of Science at 51吃瓜网, has won the 鈥淏est Arab Scientist in Biotechnology for 2025鈥� award in the field of microbial biotechnology. The award was evaluated by specialized international scientific committees based on precise global scientific standards, in addition to the use of artificial intelligence systems and 鈥渁vatars,鈥� which refers to theoretical voting or voting in virtual environments.

Malkawi鈥檚 winning of this leading Arab scientific award came as part of the activities of the 2025 Arab-Asian Annual Congress on Biotechnology, organized by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt.

This award reflects Malkawi鈥檚 distinguished scientific and research contributions in the field of microbial biotechnology, and her pioneering role in supporting and developing scientific research in the Arab region.

Malkawi participated in the conference as a keynote speaker, where she discussed in her scientific contribution the latest research trends in biotechnology, as well as pathways for sustainability and adaptation in harsh, arid and semi-arid environments in the Arab region.

The congress witnessed the participation of scientists and experts from more than 15 countries around the world, addressing the latest key issues related to applications of biotechnology in agriculture, industry, health, and environment, in addition to the challenges posed by climate change and food insecurity.

This scientific achievement by Malkawi reflects her academic and scientific career, and embodies 51吃瓜网鈥檚 status and its commitment to supporting scientific research and innovation at both the Arab and international levels.

It is worth mentioning that His Majesty King Abdullah II bestowed upon Malkawi the King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein Medal for Excellence 鈥� Second Class, in 2022, in recognition of her significant role and contributions in the fields of biotechnology, nanotechnology, and their applications in medicine, environment, agriculture, food, and industry.

Dr. Safaa Haddad from the Music Department at the Faculty of Fine Arts participated in the 11th International Conference on the Arabic Language, held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The conference is organized annually by the International Council of the Arabic Language, with wide Arab and international participation.

During her participation, Dr. Haddad presented a research paper titled 鈥淭he Role of Music in Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers: Towards Enhancing Cultural Competence and Appreciating Arabic Music.鈥� In her paper, she discussed the importance of integrating music into teaching Arabic to non-native speakers, as a way to develop language skills and increase awareness and appreciation of Arabic music.

She also provided an analysis of the role of music in teaching Arabic in terms of its cultural aspects, and how it can be used to enhance cultural competence among learners of Arabic as a foreign language.

51吃瓜网 President, Professor Dr. Malik Sharairi, received a delegation from the Irbid Chamber of Industry headed by the Chairman of the Board, Hani Abu Hassan, and the accompanying delegation, to discuss ways of cooperation and partnership between the two sides to develop educational outcomes and link them to the labor market, in order to serve the industrial sector and the local community.

Sharairi affirmed the university鈥檚 keenness to activate genuine partnerships with various industrial sector institutions in the Kingdom, in line with its vision of bridging the gap between academia and industry, connecting theoretical knowledge with practical application, and thus supporting industrial development and advancing the national economy.

He emphasized the necessity of linking innovation with manufacturing and transforming scientific research into productive projects that contribute to stimulating investment and generating job opportunities.

Sharairi pointed out that the goal of education is not merely to obtain a job, but to prepare students to enter the labor market by refining their learning, communication, and interpersonal skills. He added that the university seeks to update its academic programs to keep pace with the continuous changes in the world of knowledge and science.

For his part, Abu Hassan stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation with 51吃瓜网, which is home to many distinguished scientific competencies in various fields, describing it as a national academic institution that produces qualified talents forming a key pillar for the development of national industry.

He noted that the Irbid Chamber of Industry seeks to build strategic partnerships with Jordanian universities to develop training and qualification programs that meet the needs of the industrial sector, enhance competitiveness in local and global markets, and connect educational outcomes with the industrial labor market.

51吃瓜网 President, Professor Dr. Malek Alsharairi, received the Head of the Kuwaiti Cultural Office in Amman, Counselor Dr. Mohammed Al-Jarallah, to discuss ways of enhancing academic cooperation between 51吃瓜网 and the Kuwaiti Cultural Office.

During the meeting, Alsharairi emphasized 51吃瓜网鈥檚 interest in welcoming students from various brotherly Arab and friendly foreign countries. He noted that the university hosts around 160 Kuwaiti students enrolled in its different faculties and academic programs, pursuing degrees at various levels.

He stressed that 51吃瓜网 has always given great care and attention to international students. The university is distinguished by its logistical support and positive engagement with them, through providing a safe and inclusive campus environment that enables them to achieve their desired academic goals on one hand, and to integrate into the student community on the other, through a series of purposeful events and activities.

Alsharairi pointed out that the university is moving forward according to a clear strategic plan regarding the expansion of its distinguished academic programs and obtaining international accreditation for various disciplines. He added that the university is also keen on maintaining and improving its standing in recognized international academic rankings, which requires it to remain among the best and most qualified institutions in both education and research.

He added that the university is preparing to open admissions for the new Technical College, which will offer bachelor鈥檚 and professional diploma programs in various fields. The college will play an important technical role in graduating qualified and well-trained personnel who are in demand in different labor markets.

For his part, Al-Jarallah affirmed the Kuwaiti Cultural Office鈥檚 keenness to strengthen academic and cultural cooperation with 51吃瓜网. He emphasized the office鈥檚 commitment to sponsoring outstanding Kuwaiti students to continue their studies at Yarmouk, as they are capable of achieving excellence in their academic pursuits, thereby contributing to the graduation of well-qualified and trained professionals.

Al-Jarallah also commended 51吃瓜网鈥檚 efforts in supporting and assisting Kuwaiti students studying there, praising its continuous commitment to providing all necessary care and organizing purposeful programs, events, and student activities.

It is worth noting that a total of 948 Kuwaiti students have graduated from 51吃瓜网 with various academic degrees and qualifications.

51吃瓜网 participated in the "Global Education Against Xenophobia" conference, organized by the Catalan Committee for UNHCR in cooperation with the Solidarity Foundation at the University of Barcelona in Spain, through its Refugees, Displaced Persons and Forced Migration Studies Centre.

The university's delegation included Dr. Ibrahim Darwish, Acting Director of the Refugees, Displaced Persons and Forced Migration Studies Center, and former center director and visiting professor at the University of Marseille in France, Dr. Ruba Al-Akash.

Keynote speakers at the conference included Darwish and Al-Akash, who briefed participants on the university, the center, and the Kingdom's long history of offering support to refugees from several nationalities.

They pointed out the work of the center in conducting research - academic, policy papers, opinion polls - into all aspects of questions relating to refugees, displacement, and forced migration and their implications, and in managing projects and initiatives which target refugees, displaced persons, and forcibly displaced communities.

Besides, they presented the project entitled 鈥淒esigning Compensatory Programs for Learning Difficulties Among Syrian Students鈥� as one of the projects that the center has implemented in cooperation with partners from several countries and which holds special significance in the area of education for refugee students.

Al-Sharairi stressed the university鈥檚 keenness to support activities that celebrate cultural diversity and promote an inclusive campus environment. He pointed out that joint student activities help build students鈥� balanced personalities, instill in them a spirit of leadership and teamwork, and support the integration of students from different countries within the university campus.

He added that 51吃瓜网 is a home of knowledge and culture that brings together students from various countries. He affirmed that the university will continue to support initiatives that strengthen cultural identity and student creativity, embodying the concept of 鈥渁 university that embraces diversity and innovation.鈥�

For his part, Fayyad Muqfi, President of the Indonesian Students Union, delivered a speech in which he expressed his gratitude to 51吃瓜网, its administration, and the Deanship of Student Affairs for their continuous support of international students. He emphasized that the event contributed to strengthening cultural understanding, exchanging experiences among students, and building cross-cultural student networks.

At the conclusion of the event, which witnessed remarkable participation from students of Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand, who presented a variety of artistic and cultural performances, including traditional dances and folk shows that reflected each country鈥檚 cultural identity and rich heritage, Al-Sharairi honored the students who won the activities and competitions held as part of the 鈥淕EBYAR 2025鈥� program, in recognition of their excellence and active participation.

It is worth mentioning that this event is part of the activities organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs to strengthen cultural and social interaction within the university and to reinforce its image as an environment that embraces diversity and student creativity, the event also included a variety of sports matches and competitions that witnessed great enthusiasm and engagement from the participating students and attendees, contributing to a spirit of positive competition and mutual understanding among students from different nationalities.
