The President of 51吃瓜网, Professor Islam Massad, confirmed that the University is proceeding locally, regionally, and internationally relying on an ambitious strategic plan based on building on previous achievements and moving towards the future with a renewed vision based on modernization and development in various academic fields.He explained, during his visit to the headquarters of the Jordanian Embassy in Washington, D.C. and meeting with Ambassador Dina Kawar, on the sidelines of his participation in the EduData Summit titled 鈥淎rtificial Intelligence and Digitally Enhanced Education,鈥� which was organized by Quacquarelli Simonds QS, that 51吃瓜网 is keen to expand its network of relationships with various leading universities around the world, especially American universities and academic institutions due to their standing and scientific reputation. At the same time, Massad presented the cultural and educational development created by 51吃瓜网 at the level of Irbid Governorate and the Northern Region of Jordan, acknowledging the University鈥檚 determination to support and promote the Jordanian society and culture the national, Arab and international levels. He also pointed to the academic specializations and programs that distinguish 51吃瓜网 at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, stressing that the University attaches special value to the development of study programs that keep pace with the latest scientific developments. Massad also mentioned the possibility of increasing the number of international students studying at Yarmouk in programs like the Arabic Program for Speakers of Other Languages (APSOL) at the Language Center. He also stressed the importance of providing opportunities for academic exchange between 51吃瓜网 and American universities for students and members of the teaching and administrative and promoting joint research projects that serve the Jordanian society.

For her part, Kawar appreciated Massad鈥檚 visit, as it represents the embassy鈥檚 relationship with one of the distinguished Jordanian academic and research institutions, stressing the importance of the visit to search for mechanisms that can deepen scientific and research cooperation between American universities and academic institutions and 51吃瓜网 in a way that serves Yarmouk鈥檚 progress and brings positive benefits to its students from all faculties and programs.She then pointed to the interest of the Jordanian Embassy in Washington and its constant keenness to engage with networking American-Jordanian universities, expressing the embassy鈥檚 readiness to cooperate in this regard by facilitating channels of communication between Yarmouk and American universities.

51吃瓜网 participates in the Jordanian-Kurdistan Higher Education Forum 2024 organized by the Jordanian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Kurdistan Region and the Tourism Promotion Authority in the city of Erbil under the title 鈥淪haping the Future through Sustainable Development鈥�. 51吃瓜网鈥檚 delegation participating in this forum includes the Vice President of the University for Planning and Development Affairs and Scientific Research and Quality Affairs, Professor Samer Samarah, and the Head of Media and Publishing in the Department of Public Relations and Media, Mohammad Hajjat.

Samarah said that participation in this forum reflects the philosophy and vision of 51吃瓜网, which are designed to expand the University鈥檚 network of relationships in a way that enhances future aspirations and opens new horizons for fruitful and constructive cooperation that serves the teaching and research processes. He also stressed that participating in such meetings at the university level would introduce more people to 51吃瓜网, reflect the long-standing academic status and value it represents, and show the University鈥檚 quality of academic specializations that keep pace with modern scientific developments.

The forum witnessed holding a great number of discussion sessions, with the participation of university presidents, experts, and professors from Jordanian universities in the field of accreditation, quality assurance, scientific research, sustainable education, internationalization in education, best practices and methods of teaching medical specialties, and vocational and technical education and training, in addition to entrepreneurship and innovation in higher education, and information technology and artificial intelligence.

The students Tasneem Abdel Majeed from the Faculty of Medicine and Mohammad Al-Bashir from the Faculty of Mass Communication at 51吃瓜网 participated in the airdrop operations carried out by the Jordanian armed forces to provide humanitarian and food aid for a number of sites in Gaza Strip.

Abdel Majeed and Al-Bashir appreciated the efforts of Jordan and its armed forces, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II and his faithful Crown Prince, in supporting and assisting people in Gaza. They then explained that these airdrops are clear and firm piece of evidence of the extent of the Jordanian support towards people in Gaza. They added that this participation represents a message of support for the valiant armed forces and their great efforts in sending these airdrops in support of people in Gaza.

Moreover, the students Amir Malkawi and Mohammad Al-Zaatari from the Faculty of Arts, Suhaib Thebian from the Al-Hijjawi Faculty of Engineering Technology, Nasser Bani Issa from the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, and Uwais Bani Amer from the Faculty of Archeology and Anthropology participated in the process of packaging the airdrops.

51吃瓜网 participated in the "Global Virtual Exchange Initiative" project alongside Shenandoah University in the United States, supported by the "Christopher Stevens Virtual Exchange Initiative," which promotes global connections and mutual cultural understanding among youth through virtual exchange programs. This initiative is one of the programs of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at the US Department of State, managed by the Aspen Institute.

The project was launched on May 21, 2024 through a virtual meeting attended by 50 faculty members from both universities. Dr. Tracy Fitzsimmons, President of Shenandoah University, emphasized the vital importance of global virtual education in our interconnected world today.

Participants discussed the ways and possibilities of global virtual exchange and its importance in education. Among those attending the meeting were Dr. Sawsan Draiseh, representing 51吃瓜网 and coordinating the "Global Virtual Exchange Initiative" project, Dr. Amy Sarch, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Shenandoah University, Ms. Andy Shaver, Program Director at Stevens Initiative, Dr. Younis Mirza, Director of the Barzinji Institute for Global Virtual Learning, and Dr. Brian Pierce Gonzalez, Director of the First-Year Program.

As part of the project, the faculty members from Yarmouk and Shenandoah universities were divided into subgroups to enhance communication with their counterparts. They also conducted an exercise focusing on cultural impacts, where they shared items that reflect their societies' cultures, thus promoting mutual understanding among the project members.

Participants also discussed the importance of teamwork and supportive structures in facing and overcoming challenges inherent in global virtual education projects, emphasizing the crucial role of guidance in guiding both faculty and students throughout the process.

Dr. Amy Sarch provided insights into future opportunities for global virtual exchange and gave an overview of upcoming initiatives and potential cooperation in this field.

Dr. Younis Mirza concluded the meeting by announcing team-building exercises planned for the summer, designed to further strengthen the bonds between participants.

Dr. Sawsan Daraiseh noted that the "Going Global Virtually" project represents an important step in the long-term partnership between the two universities, laying the groundwork for continuous collaboration in the field of global virtual education.

51吃瓜网 and the University of Helsinki in Finland signed a memorandum of understanding that aims at establishing a research link between Yarmouk represented by the Department of Geography in the Faculty of Arts, and the University of Helsinki represented by the European-Asian Experience Program (PEEX). This program is a multi-disciplinary and multi-scale research circle that aims at studying climate change, air quality, environment, and infrastructure and geospatial technologies in the continents of Europe and Asia.

Thus, the memorandum aims at enhancing research cooperation between Yarmouk and the research institutions participating in the PEEX program in terms of participating in research activities, scientific conferences, workshops, and research projects funded by international bodies. Moreover, the memorandum stipulates participation in participatory educational activities and academic and student exchange between Yarmouk and the countries participating in PEEX.

The head of the Geography Department at Yarmouk mentioned that the PEEX program involves research institutions from China, Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, Estonia, Latvia, Norway, Denmark, and Kazakhstan, in addition to Finland and that it is currently seeking to expand its research cooperation to include the Eastern Mediterranean region, including Jordan.

The President of 51吃瓜网, Professor Islam Massad, met the Director of the Early Education Program (ASAS) at the International Council for Research and Exchange (IREX), Dr. Cameron Mirza, with the aim of discussing the latest developments and measures that have been taken to implement the Early Education Project (ASAS) at the University鈥檚 Faculty of Educational Sciences, which is supported by US Agency for International Development.

Massad emphasized 51吃瓜网鈥檚 belief in the importance of such pioneering projects that enable Jordanian higher education institutions to develop their study plans and programs in a way that is compatible with the needs of the labor market and that can prepare a generation of Jordanian youth with qualitative skills and capabilities that enhance their competitiveness at the local, Arab, and regional levels. He then pointed out that 51吃瓜网 embraces a distinguished Faculty of Educational Sciences that includes scientific competencies capable of implementing academic programs for various academic degrees efficiently and competently. He also affirmed Yarmouk鈥檚 keenness and commitment to develop and update the study plan for the Classroom-Teacher program in a way that is consistent with the international plans and standards before the beginning of 2024-2025 academic year, ensuring the University鈥檚 commitment to provide quality education for students and supply the educational labor market with qualified and efficient human resources.

In return, Mirza stressed the importance of continuing fruitful cooperation with 51吃瓜网 due to its pioneering and distinguished status in educational field, as made evident in its ability to achieve success and leadership in its various programs. He then pointed out that (ASAS) aims at developing the Classroom-Teacher program at the Faculty of Educational Sciences at 51吃瓜网 by enhancing the University鈥檚 institutional performance, developing curricula and teaching-learning materials, improving practical training, and supporting its infrastructure by renovating and providing a number of smart classrooms with various technological tools, including laptops, smart tablets, etc.

The Board of Trustees of 51吃瓜网 decided to approve the foundations and fees for the programs and courses of the Arabic Program for Speakers of Other Languages (APSOL) at the Language Center. The Board decided that the program will be organized in hours, levels, and semesters, including nine levels at a rate of 80 hours per month and taught face-to-face or online. The Board also decided to grant the academic institutions and bodies that have agreements with the University a reduction in fees, beside exempting international professors and students who provide free services to the University from paying fees. Moreover, the Board decided to provide educational and training courses based on the type of courses and the number of students and participants.

It is noteworthy that the Language Center recently updated the APSOL for the purpose of attracting more international students, as new paper and electronic curricula got used in the teaching process relying on international frameworks. Such curricula are equipped with modern, electronic teaching and learning media that support learning and enhance students鈥� proficiency in linguistic, cultural, and communicative skills.

The Vice President of 51吃瓜网 for Planning, Development, Scientific Research and Quality Affairs, Professor Samer Samarah, received Laila Polman, a specialist in Minecraft from Microsoft, to discuss ways of cooperation with Microsoft, specifically the mini-company Minecraft, emphasizing the possibility of holding workshops specialized in designing and developing electronic games in cooperation with Jordan鈥檚 Gaming lab /King Abdullah II Fund for Development.

Samarah reviewed the establishment of Yarmouk, its history, faculties, and academic programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels, in addition to its scientific centers, pointing to the University鈥檚 vision and future aspirations towards expanding its faculties and scientific programs. He then pointed out that 51吃瓜网 is keen, according to its strategic plan and vision, to strengthen its position and academic presence with regard to international classifications and accreditation agencies like THE and QS. Moreover, Samarah stressed the importance of cooperation with a leading international company like Microsoft, as it reflects positively on the progress of the educational process at the University and opens horizons for faculty members and students in the Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science to learn about the latest technological developments in their field of specialization.

For her part, Polman praised the long-standing reputation of 51吃瓜网 and the extent to which it keeps pace with scientific and global developments in the field of information technology, stressing the necessity of directing the students of the Faculty of Information Technology in Yarmouk to the world of electronic games industry. She then pointed to the extent of the development in the field of electronic games and their industry in Jordan and the passion that exists among students for learning and development, which has been shown during the activities of the Future of the e-Sports Conference held recently in the city of Aqaba.

Finally, Polman met a group of students and professors from the Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science discussing the electronic gaming industry and how Minecraft can be used for educational purposes.

The President of 51吃瓜网, Professor Islam Massad, received a delegation from the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation in the Sultanate of Oman, which included the Director of the Recognition and Equivalency of Qualifications Department, Al-Nasr bin Nasser Al-Ruqaishi, the Head of the Recognition Department of Higher Education Institutions, Abdullah bin Salem Al-Badi, and the Acting First Secretary of the Cultural Department in the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Jordan, Salem Al Wahaibi.

During the meeting, Massad stressed the depth of the historical relations that bind the two brotherly countries and the necessity of developing them in various fields, especially the academic and research fields, noting that 2101 Omani graduates graduated from 51吃瓜网 and are contributing today to the development and construction process of the Sultanate of Oman. He then pointed out that the University is keen, in accordance with its strategic plan, to enhance its academic standing with regard to international classifications, highlighting that the University obtained a five-star certificate in the global university evaluation system and advanced (200) places in QS-classification for 2024, which sets it in the category 1001-1200, as well as in the Times World University Rankings in Asia, which sets it in the category (400-351).

For his part, Al-Ruqaishi praised the distinguished scientific reputation of 51吃瓜网 in the Arab world, stressing the interest of the Omani Ministry of Higher Education in strengthening cooperation with 51吃瓜网 to achieve common goals. Thus, the meeting involves discussing many topics of common interest related to Omani students studying at 51吃瓜网 in various academic programs and degrees.
